Your employment rights are protected in a merger such as this between two organisations. The legislation that covers this is called the 'Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment). You can find out more about this by going to the ACAS website. [insert link here]
Both the new employer [Radley College] and old employer [Prep Schools Trust] must follow the TUPE regulations which involves consulting with Elected Representatives in advance of the proposed merger. The consultation period is designed to allow all staff that are likely to have their employment TUPE'd to the new employer, to ask questions via their Elected Representatives about the proposal. You may also have some specific questions relating to your employment situation and you may request an individual consultation with a member of the Consultation Team or email: tupeconsultation@prepschoolstrust.org
Anyone that is due to leave Prep Schools Trust before the proposed merger date on 1st September 2025, will not be part of the consultation as their employment will not transfer. If you are on a fixed term contract and do not know if your fixed term contract is likely to be extended past 31st August 2025, please speak to your Head/Senior Manager for clarification. If your contract is going to be extend, then arrangements will be made to include you in the consultation process.
TUPE Terminology can be found here.
